Once you reach your goal weight, we want to make sure you are able to keep it off. We are proud of you and appreciate you letting us be a part of this journey with you. You have put a lot of time, money, and effort into getting to this point, so we want you to keep it off! There are several ways you can choose to do maintenance and which way is totally up to you. Please talk to us as you approach your goal weight so we can help you plan out your maintenance journey. Whatever you do… DON’T STOP TAKING YOUR SHOTS COLD TURKEY! This can be very detrimental! Your hunger can come back with a vengeance and without the help of the shots, you can quickly undo all your hard work.
Option One: Wean off the shots
It is best to decrease your dosage and then start spreading out the doses to wean yourself off. Depending on the dose you are on, this can take several months. The lower dose you are on, the easier it is to wean off. That is one reason we try to keep you at the lowest dose possible while undergoing weight loss.
Example: If you are on 1 mg once a week, we could drop back to .75 mg once a week for a month, then .5 mg once a week the next month, then spread out the .5 mg to anywhere between 10-21 days, depending on how you feel. You can do this until you feel comfortable being off the shots.
Option Two: Stay on a maintenance dose as long as you want
We can do this several ways… If you really like the dose you are on and want to spread it out, you can take that dose anywhere between 10-21 days as you feel like you need to. If you start getting hungry and are eating more than you desire, you can take it as often as every 7 days for a week or two to get it under control, then spread it back out again.
Another way to do this is you can drop down a dose or two as mentioned under option one. Instead of stopping the shots, you would continue taking them between 10-21 days as you feel the need. to.
At any point in time if you want to restart after stopping the shots, you can but will need to start back at a low dose again to get it back in your system.
IMPORTANT FACTORS TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS:
Exercise! Be active! The more calories you burn, the easier it will be to keep the weight off! Anything is better than nothing! Walking, light jogging, doing weights, rowing, biking, hiking, etc.
Portion size needs to be the same portion size you were eating while on the shots! If you go back to eating larger portions, you will gain weight!!!
Protein - continue eating a lot of protein! The grams of protein should be close to your goal weight…Ex, goal weight of 150, you need 125-150 grams of protein every day. Look at our blog section under Dietary suggestion for more info on proteins.
The healthier you eat, the easier it will be to keep the weight off! Remember Junk In, it stays in!!! Eating well balanced smaller meals is the best way to do this.
Keep alcohol to a minimum. Alcohol has carbs/sugar which are extra wasted calories, so drinking a lot just adds extra calories you can’t account for and will be eventually be stored as fat. Therefore drinking in moderation is very important!
